Hello and welcome! I'm Ryan, the creator of LetsTowThat.com and find myself towing something behind my truck, at least three times a week! I now must confess that I seem to have a passion for everything related to towing.
Towing, for me, isn't just a necessity; it's become a part of my weekly routine. Whether it's hauling equipment for work related things (which I seem to do a lot) or setting off on a family getaway with a camper or trailer tagging along behind me, I've found myself connecting and disconnecting trailers numerous times a week.
This hands-on experience has not only honed my skills and curiosity about towing but has also deepened my understanding regarding some of the complexities surrounding it.
I do want to point out that the path to becoming a towing enthusiast wasn't something I had planned out, it just kinda happened. In the beginning, I only wanted to educate myself about the towing capacities and limitations of our family's vehicles, but I encountered several challenges, which really just boiled down to the lack of reliable information.
The internet was rife with towing capacity resources, but much of it was either incorrect, incomplete, or just too complex to decipher and a lot of times I found myself asking where their information even came from, was it reliable? This realization hit me hard – if I, someone who tows regularly, struggled to find accurate information, what about those who were new to towing?
How It All Started:
My curiosity in towing started out by accident, really. It all started one day when researching the towing capacity of one of the vehicles I have at home. It was a 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 and it had pulled lighter trailer loads before, but I needed to get scaffolding from somewhere (far away) and knew that using a car trailer and the weight of the metal scaffolding was going to be pretty heavy, so I wanted to know what my truck's limit was and if it was up to the task.
I hopped online and searched for information about my truck, and got confused instantly with all the data that was presented to me. I had no idea it was so complicated! After digging through the information and making many trips out to my truck to gather information that I needed from it, I was able to finally find the towing capacity!
I thought this was crazy, but maybe it was just that complicated for the Dodge truck, so I decided to look at another vehicle we have. My wife had a Ford Expedition that we tote the three kids around in and we take camping, so we pull either our pop-up camper or a small utility trailer (full of camping gear) with us, depending on what type of camping we want to do.
Figuring out the towing capacity was simpler, but there were also variables that I needed to take into account, and soon it became just as complicated as the Dodge truck! That's when I knew that a website about towing would probably help myself and others out there that were in the same position as me.
Driven by this challenge, I decided to take matters into my own hands and LetsTowThat.com was born, from a mix of frustration and a desire to simplify towing for everyone.
My mission was clear: to create a one-stop resource that not only provides accurate towing information but also breaks it down into easily digestible (still working on that part), understandable segments.
On my website, you'll find detailed articles on towing capacities, mainly, but I do plan on expanding the information I produce like: practical guides on towing different types of trailers, answers to some of the most common (and not so common) towing questions, etc.
Each article is written, with the aim of making towing a less daunting task and more of an enjoyable, safe experience.
My aim is to make LetsTowThat.com more than just a collection of articles and guides, I want it to be a reflection of my commitment to the towing community – a space where both novices and seasoned towers can learn, share, and grow. It's about building a community where we can share our experiences, challenges, and successes in towing.
Join me on this journey, and let's transform towing into a smooth, safe, and stress-free experience! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me via the contact page or by email!
